800 Happy Feet at Miracle Walk/Run Miami

768 Jubilant feet crossed the finish line at Transplant Foundation’s 5K Miracle Walk/Run on Sunday, November 18th at the Miami Metro Zoo (while 32 happy feet volunteered at the event site!) Pinecrest Councilmember, Jeff Cutler, was on-hand to greet the participants and Foundation Executive Director, Eli Compton, called out recipients and donor families before the start.  It was a beautiful crisp fall day and the walkers and runners enjoyed having the zoo, and the animals’ attention, all to themselves.  After the walk/run concluded, they enjoyed ice cream, thanks to Carvel, a raffle with a slue of fabulous items, music by DJ Scott Sorrels, health fair featuring BioScrip Pharmacy and XDx Allomap, and a day at the Miami Metro Zoo!

There are countless individuals who donated funds for Miracle Walk/Run making it the most successful walk event with a total of $60,000 (making foundation staff happy all over!)  At the event, the money was tallied and our top fundraiser, branded “The Miracle Walker” was Abe Perez, recent liver transplant recipient.  Abe’s prize, a 4-day Caribbean cruise for two in the owner’s suite aboard Carnival Cruise Lines.  Monica’s Entourage walked away with the team who raised the most funds and a bagel party!

A very special thanks is due to our sponsors:  Remedy Intelligent Staffing, Roche Pharmaceuticals, XDx Allomap, BioScrip Pharmacy, Keller Williams Realty, Perry Ellis International, Wyeth, King’s Bay Athletics, Eli Compton and family, the Goldstein and Sun families, Daniel Goldstein, P.A., Ms. Saigon Bistro, Lisa Lesperance, P.A., PSY Holdings, Old Cutler Animal Clinic, Catering by Lovables and Kennesaw Fruit and Juice.

Miracle Walk/Run could not have been successful without the assistance of the Miracle Walk/Run Committee Chairperson, Jenni Goldstein, the entire committee, volunteers, and, of course, the participants.  It is your support that made this year’s Miracle Walk/Run the best yet.  Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the next Miracle Walk/Run!
