Emerald Nights Recap

Transplant Foundation rolled out the green carpet for its first annual Emerald Nights event on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Miami’s own Sabal/Palm Plaza in Jungle Island. This event seemed like a “who’s-who event” with over 800 high-heeled, gorgeous guests in attendance. Well-known faces included: Touring Golf Pro/2-Time Heart Transplant Recipient Erik Compton, Latin Grammy Winner Jorge Moreno, Star of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Miami Alexia Echevarria, America’s Next Top Model Contestant Anchal Joseph, WSVN Deco Drive’s Aubrey Aquino, Univision’s Karol Rosa, Tito Puente Jr, and Cox radio’ s Natalia de la Cruz among others.

Guests roamed the plaza, took pictures on the step/repeat, danced to the hypnotic sounds provided by DJ Eskimo, DJ Shawn Rudnick and the Havana Soul band all to simply celebrate the gift of life.

Attendees placed bids on terrific auction items and enjoyed an array of delectable entrees provided by South Florida’s finest restaurants such as: Jungle Island, Marky’s Caviar, Melting Pot, Madras Café, Mazza Mediterranean Cuisine,  Ivy at the Grove, Lavazza Italian Coffee, Tastedful Touch, YUGA, Sweetest Knights Fudge, The Crab House and We Take the Cake..  The drinks kept flowing courtesy of Poland’s Select Vodka, Ron Barcelo Rum and ArgenVine Wines.

A brilliantly colorful informal trunk fashion show was provided by designer, Lila Nikole.  ”This year’s Emerald Nights garnered rave reviews. We sought out the best Miami restaurants, well-known DJ’s and the buzz-worthy designers to create the new Miami social scene staple,” said Melissa Chediak-Wetzel, Director of Development for the Transplant Foundation. “We delivered a first class event and have generated awareness among a younger community regarding the importance of organ donation.“

The evening brought in over $75,000.
