EDOD Shoots Hoops For Life

Months of hard work, including hundreds of community service hours, paid off for Branden Marcus, Chase Book, Lily Lipton, Robert Young and Harrison Young as their Hoops for Life event, benefiting Transplant Foundation, on December 2nd was an amazing success!  Branden is the co-president of Education on Organ Donation (EDOD), a student club at the upper school at University School, and most all of their members came out to support this basketball tournament.

Organ donation is near and dear to Branden’s heart because his grandfather is a heart transplant recipient.  His older brother, Justin, started EDOD years ago, so Branden’s passion is an extension of the Marcus family’s dedication to bringing organ donation to the forefront of conversation.

115 Students played basketball for five hours and enjoyed an afternoon of sportsmanship and camaraderie—all while raising awareness on the importance of organ donation.  Additionally, 20 students volunteered their time on the day of the tournament serving as the DJ, score-keepers, referees, registration volunteers, set-up and clean-up crews.

The end result:  over $10,000 raised for Transplant Foundation’s Adelina Gomez Pediatric Fund.

Many congratulations to Branden and team on a job well done!
