HOT OFF THE PRESS. . . LEADING LADIES NEWS

The Leading Ladies are always looking for new ways to raise money for the Transplant Foundation.  When LL board member, Beverly Berland, heard that Joseph L. Maggi of Joseph’s On the Water in Hallandale was donating his restaurant to help a child needing a kidney transplant, she told Joseph about the Leading Ladies and our mission and goals.  He immediately offered to do the same for the Leading Ladies. . . and in less than three weeks, Beverly and our wonderful Board of Directors put together an extra fund raiser that Joseph underwrote. . .

 Flyers and notices were sent out to announce this added event to the already busy calendar.  Beautiful raffles were acquired by the Leading Ladies as well as some auction items.

May 5th was a perfect evening, and 140 people enjoyed a fabulous dinner, a wonderful setting, and a show by Rodi Alexander and her husband Mark Friedman that rivals any of the best acts in New York or Las Vegas.  Rodi is a superstar and Mark an absolutely marvelous partner, musician and funny man.  It was a sell out evening that filled the restaurant on the water from wall to wall, and raised $8,500.00 for the Transplant Foundation. 

We know that there will be more evenings and events, so please check our calendar.  The Board will meet all summer long to plan for better than ever luncheons, programs and events.  And Joseph has agreed to donate again and again. 

We’re very close to our goal of a million dollars, and then we’ll reach even deeper to work toward our second million.  We’d love to have you join our wonderful woman’s auxiliary of the Transplant Foundation, Inc.  There is so much to do to help patients and the families of transplant recipients.

Our season is well underway.  We’ve enjoyed some wonderful luncheons and have taken part in a very successful fundraising event at Bloomingdales. 

We look forward to being Holiday Angels this year to help a transplant family struggling with the financial burdens that they face.  We hope to bring holdiay smiles to them.

A Message from Leading Ladies President, Nancy Sutton

Each time I have taken the oath to serve as President of Leading Ladies, it has always been my goal to help raise the most contributions, and to raise public awareness of organ transplantation. As one of the 11 founding members who were drawn to this charity by Candi Casino, Transplant Foundation Liaison, I have watched with pride as our roster grew to 500 members.

From the beginning, we were all women with backgrounds in show business, or the affinity for it, so our focus to raise funds primarily dealt with entertainment. Our luncheons attract 200-250 people in attendance, highlighted by acts and musicians who donate their time to aid our cause.

Since my association, I have seen the growth of a little known medical occurrence to now be in the limelight and generate worldwide attention. Just to attend the Foundation functions and see the children and adults, who have been given the gift of life through this phenomenon, will always take a special place in my heart.

Leading Ladies are Million $ Babes

Leading Ladies, Inc. is Transplant Foundation's auxiliary organization. Since they incorporated in 1995, this amazing group has raised over $800,000 through various projects and events such as shows, luncheons and raffles for Transplant Foundation's Patient Services Fund. Leading Ladies, Inc. is an exciting organization comprised of show business people and those with affection for show business.

For seven months of the year, these lovely ladies host fantastic fundraising events held at top notch venues in Dade and Broward counties with amazing entertainers and musicians, which dazzle and please the crowd.
