Annual Holiday Party 2011

It was another touching and emotional holiday party at Signature Grand. On Sunday, December 4th, Transplant patients and their families from different areas across the state of Florida attended Transplant Foundation's Annual Holiday Party to pay tribute to their organ donor and the amazing gift of life during the Tree of Life ceremony, a Transplant Foundation tradition now for close to 20 years.

 With Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone" song as a backdrop, transplant patients of all ages gathered around a bare Christmas tree in the center of the room glowing in white lights and placed an ornament on the tree in honor of their organ donor.

"This event is our member's favorite and with reason," said Eli Compton, Executive Director of Transplant Foundation. "This year, several donor families were invited as special guests. A recipient who attended found his donor's wife. Neither one of them knew that they were attending the event, but by coincidence they figured it out. It was an emotional moment for both and especially for the donor's wife who lost her husband at age 46 and now met the special man who received her husband's liver. Another miracle. Another heart warming experience."

Guests enjoyed a varied selection of food, music, and caroling courtesy of Transplant Institute staff, Leading Ladies and members of Transplant Foundation's Board of Directors. The festivity was sealed with the appearance of Santa Claus distributing gifts to children.

In addition, volunteers who took an active role in Transplant Foundation's activities this year were honored and outstanding Male and Female Volunteer of the Year plaques were awarded to Rey Yera and Veronica Martin.
